Improving Student Wellbeing
At Thrive & Survive we are committed to improving student wellbeing by providing students with practical, informed and relevant advice from the perspective of both graduates and current students. This includes our ‘Guideto Your First Year @ Uni‘, which helps students make the transition from school to university, as well as regular articles reflecting on the various challenges of university life.
Starting university is a big deal for most people.
It is normal to feel anxious or afraid, you can bet your new neighbours will be feeling exactly the same. These initial feelings do not need to dictate your university experience. Our ‘Guide to your first year at uni’ will help you. Try thinking about what excites you, rather than what makes you nervous! Although ‘keep calm’ might seem like the least helpful and most cliched advice, there are a few things you can do to relieve this initial tension and avoid a few common mistakes.
At Thrive & Survive we are determined to not simply address the issues identified as most prevalent in transitioning to uni, but offer practical solutions for them. This includes advice on areas such as budgeting, socialising, cooking, exercise, studying and much more. While most of this information is available elsewhere on the internet, it is highly fragmented and very time consuming for students who need the advice to find it! ‘A Guide to your first year @ uni’ condenses all of the best information into an easily negotiable sixteen pages, ensuring that the best advice is not lost.
Above all, we want every student to create the university experience that works for them. There is no ready-made formula for this, however there are so many systems in place designed to help students have a good time, our job is showing them where to look! This booklet is not a cheat sheet, it will not tell students how to live their lives, but we hope that it will provide plenty of hints, tips and tools to help them along the way.

At Thrive & Survive we endeavour to always be at the forefront of university advice, the best way to do this is to engage with as many new students as possible across the country. We understand that university life is constantly evolving and to dwell on our own university experiences, which started in 2015, will not be relevant forever! In light of this we encourage all university students, old and new, to keep in contact with us through our website and social medias. Any thoughts on our current advice, or on content you would like to see in the future will be gladly received. As well as this, why not sign up to our new Thrive & Survive newsletter in order to keep up to date with what we have been up to? This will remind you of any new articles, press releases or general updates that we may wish to share.
